Shin splints have struck!

Ten minutes into my interval run and I was in agony! Being the stupidly stubborn person I am, I tried to walk it off in the slower intervals and lowered my jogging pace but to no avail. I had to stop after my run on the treadmill and hobble on home.

The trainer saw me making a leave for the lockers and came to check I was okay (30 minutes is the shortest work out I’ve ever done). She agreed that the injury sounds like shin splints and thinks that it’s probably a result of over exertion. As per her recommendation, I’m now sat with my legs up against the wall, home made ice packs tied to my shins, and taking at least three days off from working out.

It sucks, majorly. But we’ll see where I am after three days of rest. At least now I know what I’ve got to do to reduce the pain and prevent it happening again.
